After months of difficult bargaining, we now have a collective agreement that will better protect you and our coworkers. Thank you for fighting together to improve our working conditions.
This agreement will run from April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2020. It includes increased coverage for a number of mental and physical health services and apparatuses, ensuring more of us can take care of ourselves at work and outside of it. We also have a new workload appeal process; a more efficient grievance procedure; and expanded Respectful workplace/no discrimination language that puts the employer on timelines to respond to issues, among other language improvements.
In years 1 and 2 of the agreement we got zeros. In year 3 we negotiated a “me too” agreement, which means we will earn whatever wage adjustment our general support services (GSS) coworkers at AHS negotiate in their wage reopener. Negotiations for the wage reopener will start no later than June 11.
IMPORTANT RETROACTIVE PAY NOTICE
In the event that wage increase are negotiated into the AHS GSS agreement and your employment was terminated before May 30, 2019, you have a right to retroactive pay.
As long as you were still an employee on April 1, 2019, you can write and send your application to Michelle Byer at HRBusinessSupport@covenanthealth.ca to receive retroactive pay.
You must submit your written application before July 29, 2019.
