Northwestern Polytechnic: Bargaining begins
Your negotiating team met with the employer on Jan. 27 and 28 to begin bargaining.
We had productive discussions with Northwestern Polytechnic, and we further identified where we can make improvements to the collective agreement. We have not yet been able to schedule our next bargaining dates, but we look forward to continuing discussions with the employer.
Our discussions focused on the following areas:
- Equal opportunities for all employment statuses
- Strengthening health and safety committee with better representation and follow-up
- Clarification on employer sick note requirement––a hardship due to the lack of medical services in the area
We also discussed our proposed improvements to the following items:
- Article 11 Probationary Period
- Article 14 Modified Hours of Work
- Article 17 Acting Incumbent
- Article 23 Sick Leave and Disability Leave
- Article 33 Safety and Health
- Article 37 Amendments to Terms of Employment
- Article 39 Tool, Uniforms, and Protect Apparel/Clothing
- Article 43 Rates of Pay
- Article 46 Respectful Workplace
