UNION RESPONDS TO EMPLOYER MEMO

Almost one year ago, we made the decision to unionize our worksite, home to over 200 Alberta seniors. We organized and mobilized each other because we know our work has a direct impact on many people’s quality of life: our own and the residents we support.

Since bargaining began, we’ve asked for workplace improvements that are necessary for ensuring we can protect each other’s mental, emotional and physical health, and we’ve asked for compensation that’s comparable to other seniors’ care facilities in Alberta.

Nothing we are asking for is unreasonable.

Last week the Brenda Strafford Foundation posted a note to our staff bulletin board that misrepresents our position at the bargaining table and our union activity.

This note may have left you with questions. Below are answers to some of the concerns you might have, so you know where our union is in bargaining and understand the full value of our AUPE membership.
