Thank you to all members who filled out the bargaining survey. Your input is vital to the bargaining process and provides the foundation of our proposal package.
Your negotiating team met with the employer on October 2 to begin bargaining. We shared our proposal, which seemed to overwhelm the employer. They suggested that the negotiating team, who represent the workers employed by Emcon, doesn’t understand their business.
While Emcon did not specifically state their monetary package, they did verbally propose that the Price Adjustment Factor (PAF) continue in this collective agreement. As you know, we disagree on the interpretation of the PAF language and are currently grieving the way Emcon applied the PAF to your wages.
We reminded the employer of this, and we look forward to further discussions on higher wage increases.
