Your negotiating team met with AHS on September 25 and 26 to continue bargaining.
We focused on negotiating non-monetary issues in hopes we could make some progress. However, AHS did not agree with even the most obvious and basic proposals.
AHS refuses to add the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation to the agreement. It is a federal statutory holiday and should be added, but AHS disagrees. This is ridiculous and absurd.
AHS acknowledges they must treat the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a named holiday, but shamefully refuses to give it the respect and formal recognition it deserves in our collective agreement.
Your team also shared proposals on the transition to Recovery Alberta as well as any future transfers to other employers. AHS was not interested in any of our proposals.
We had some early conversations about changes for Benefit-Eligible Casual Employees, but did not agree to anything. Ultimately, the employer blocked any progress that could have been made during these meetings.
