Bargaining Update: St. Therese Villa—Local 040, Chapter 011
Your negotiating team at St. Therese Villa is happy to announce that you now have a new collective agreement!
On Sept. 15, you voted nearly unanimously (103 in favour, 1 opposed) to adopt the tentative agreement that your negotiating team bargained with the employer. On Sept. 29, the employer formally accepted the agreement as well. Now that both sides have ratified, we have a contract!
This means that you will have a retroactive one per cent pay increase going back to Oct. 1, 2021, and an additional retroactive pay increase from September 1, 2022. On April 1, 2023, you’ll get an additional two per cent pay increase on top of that. In addition to these modest increases, you will receive a one per cent lump sum payment for all hours worked in 2021. If you’ve worked at St. Therese for 20 years or more, you’ll receive an additional two per cent pay increase.
There are a number of other non-monetary improvements, such as a better holiday policy, increased flexibility for personal days, and improved language around medical appointments which will allow you to take medical appointments that last under two hours without removing time from your sick time bank.

This agreement will last until March 30, 2024. So we can rest easy, for now, with a collective agreement—and prepare for making new gains in the next round.
