Fall sessions have been scheduled
After an encouraging bargaining session in May, your negotiating team met again with the employer on June 21 and July 14. During these sessions, we continued detailing many important articles in the agreement, such as: Union Stewards, Definitions, Union Recognition, Leaves of Absence, Promotions, Transfers and Vacancies. These articles will benefit workers meaningfully; however, we remain aware that they are not the articles which stand to have the greatest monetary impact for workers.
On September 11 and 12 we will meet again with the employer to finalize these non-monetary articles. This will then allow us to address core monetary demands around vacation accrual rates, sick leave, named holidays, benefits, transportation allowances, pension and wages.
Your negotiating team is grateful for your patience as we continue to work towards reaching a collective agreement that meets the needs of the workers of SPAN.
We are available, as always, to answer your questions and concerns. If you have any, please contact a member of your negotiating team.
