Positive progress in bargaining
Your negotiating team resumed bargaining with the employer on July 5 and 6.
Discussions at the table are still positive. Like our last meetings, we were able to agree on several improvements to existing Articles.
Your team is excited about two changes in particular: improvements to Article 10, Investigations, and Article 7, Union Stewards.
With changes to Article 10, the employer would have to tell members the details of complaints against them as well as who made the complaint—unless safety issues would prevent those details from being shared before an investigation.
Changes to Article 7 would remove the limit on how many stewards can take training each year, which is currently capped at seven.
We also signed off on small improvements or current language on the following Articles:
• Article 11 – Grievance Procedure
• Article 13 – Notice of Resignation
• Article 15 – Bulletin Boards
