Optima Living – Hawthorne: Employer’s offer remains unacceptable

Bargaining update for Local 048, Chapter 055, Optima Living – Hawthorne

Your negotiating team met the employer again this week but, despite an extended session, their latest offer is still unacceptable.

Optima’s proposal would continue to keep the nursing-care group among the lowest paid workers in Alberta.

Throughout this process, your negotiating team has remained fully engaged, advocating for fair compensation.

Last year, the employer had suggested implementing the collective agreement in place at Optima – Golden Sands. While not perfect, that agreement would increase wages, shift differentials and weekend premiums. The employer has since gone back on that offer.

We have applied for enhanced mediation to push this process forward. We are also exploring all legal avenues to resolve this dispute and ensure that you receive the wages agreed to in 2023.

The employer has repeatedly delayed bargaining and made woefully low offers, hoping to wear us down.

We appreciate your patience and continued solidarity as we fight to get you the fair compensation you deserve.

If you have questions, please contact a member of your negotiating team.
