Lakeland College: Bargaining off to a productive start

Bargaining update for Local 071 Chapter 004, Lakeland College - Non-Academic Staff

Apr 15, 2025

Text only block

Your negotiating team met with Lakeland College on April 3 and 4 to begin bargaining.

We had respectful discussions with the employer and are pleased with our progress so far.

We are happy with the tone at the bargaining table, but we also know there is still a lot of bargaining ahead of us. We expect to face more resistance as we move closer to bargaining for wages and benefits.

Your team made it clear that our wages are our top bargaining priority.

We agreed to the following articles with minor changes or improvements:

Article 5 – Union Recognition
Article 6 – Legislation and the Collective Agreement
Article 28 – Maternity/Parental Leave
Article 40 – Probationary Employee and Period
Article 41 – Personal File

We also began discussions on:

Article 8 - Employer - Union Relations
Article 12 - Disciplinary Action
Article 18 - Time Off for Union Business

Our next meetings with the employer are scheduled for May 1 and 2.
