GSBC Update #12: GOA Bargaining Town Halls

Update for Locals 001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006, 009 & 012, Government of Alberta

Nov 20, 2024

Join us December 10 & 11, Noon and 6:00 pm each day

Text only block

As reported in GSBC Update #11 the Essential Services Agreement (ESA) Umpire Deb Howes ruled that AUPE members working for the government could cross their own picket line during a strike or lockout. AUPE members completely disagree with this ruling, and to have it written into our Essential Services Agreement is totally unacceptable. Unfortunately, formal mediation cannot take place until an ESA agreement is in place.

The Labour Board Commissioner is reviewing our appeal on Nov. 21. We expect them to schedule a meeting with us after they review our appeal. They will then give your team and the government a timeline for us to share evidence and arguments that support our positions. The Commissioner will make a decision on our appeal after reviewing these submissions.

GOA Bargaining telephone town halls – Dec. 10 and 11

All members working for the Government of Alberta are invited to join us for critical conversations about bargaining.

Your negotiating team will answer your questions and discuss the current state of negotiations with the government during these town halls. You are welcome to join as many town halls as you like.
