Your negotiating team met with Edmonton Catholic Schools on October 29 and 30 to begin bargaining. We shared our initial proposals, including monetary proposals, but our employer chose to withhold their monetary proposals until a later date.
Your team proposed a three-year contract with wage increases of 13%, 6.5% and 6.5% plus Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA). We also proposed significant improvements to benefits and the Flexible Spending Account.
After thorough review of initial proposals, we focused on cleaning up language in the collective agreement. The employer, of course, tried to roll back hard-earned benefits, such as discontinuing the $0.55/hour Education Adjustment for future employees with the required certifications and job tasks.
Your negotiating team ensured points on compensation were deferred to monetary negotiations. We are prepared to counter any other proposed rollbacks as bargaining continues.
