Your negotiating team met with CapitalCare for bargaining on January 23 and 24. We signed off on the following Articles and Letters of Understanding (LOU) without changes:
- Article 10 - Performance Appraisals/Personnel File
- Article 15 - Pyramiding
- Article 19 - Employee-Management Advisory Committee
- Article 33 - Discipline and Dismissal
- Article 34 - Bulletin Board Space
- Article 36 - Copies of Collective Agreement
- Article 39 - Dress Code
- LOU 2 - Seasonal Closure of Program
- LOU 9 - Weekend Only Pattern
- LOU 11 - Portability of Seniority Between AUPE Bargaining Certificate Units
Many of us feel like CapitalCare does not respect us, and your team let them know this loud and clear. Unfortunately, our concerns did not seem to move CapitalCare any closer to accepting our proposals.
We have only just begun bargaining, but we are already frustrated with the slow pace and the way our employer is negotiating with us. Members should not expect CapitalCare to simply give us a good deal at the table – we're going to have to fight for it.
Wear red and bookmark April 7 and 11
Our next bargaining meetings are scheduled for later this spring, on April 7 and 11. Wear red to show your support! Take photos of you and your coworkers wearing red and email them to photos@aupe.org to be shared on social media.
We need leverage if we are going to win the raises, benefits, and working conditions we need in this round of bargaining, and the best leverage we have is our unity and the option of going on strike. Let’s ramp things up so we’re all ready to show our solidarity in April.
Please contact a member of your negotiating team if you have any questions.
