While we did sign off on three articles, we have not come to an agreement on Union Rights, Security and Dues language that will ensure you are treated as an equal voice in the collective agreement. This is a wall we’ve hit repeatedly this round of bargaining.
We heard back about the Unfair Labour Practice complaint we filed against the Good Samaritan Society too, and in the process, the employer admitted they do have the money to afford our monetary proposals (including wage increases, benefits and vacation leave); they just don’t want don’t want to give them to us.
You are on the frontlines of care, and until the Good Samaritan recognizes your value, they are devaluing the entire continuing care system in Alberta. Your bargaining team will continue to remind them of this.
If you have any questions, please contact one of us – we’re here to keep you informed.
