Negotiations have led to meaningful discussions at bargaining table
Your negotiating team met with the employer on Oct. 19 and 20, 2021 and are pleased to report that we engaged in meaningful discussions on several non-monetary items: Article 3 - Union Recognition; Article 5 - Union Dues; Article 26 – Vacations, Article 34 - Discipline and Dismissal, and Article 35 - Occupational Health and Safety.
The Union has put forward proposals that the employer will respond to at our next meetings, scheduled for Nov. 4 and 5, 2021.
This has been an extraordinary round of bargaining, with members facing concessions in their wages and benefits while at the same time going to work each day facing a deadly pandemic. We applaud your patience and dedication as we work hard to get you the best collective agreement we can.
Remember that your collective agreement remain in full force, as does the employer’s obligation to abide by it.
If you have any questions about your collective agreement or are experiencing a problem at work, please contact a worksite steward. You can also reach your Membership Services Officer by calling AUPE’s Member Resource Centre at 1-800-232-7284.
If you have questions about bargaining, please contact a member of your negotiating team or AUPE resource staff.
