Negotiating team makes it clear: no rollbacks

Your negotiating team met with the employer on September 19 to exchange non-monetary proposals. Our proposal focused on streamlining and clarifying the language in the collective agreement, as well as addressing specific issues identified through our bargaining surveys. Overall, the discussions were positive and productive.

We presented the employer with a comprehensive non-monetary proposal. The employer responded with an outline of concepts and areas they want to address. We found their document lacking specific language and it was difficult to understand their objectives.

We made it clear that we want to find fair and equitable solutions at the table, but we are not willing to accept rollbacks of any kind.

Our non-monetary proposals include:

• Enhance entitlements to temporary and casual employees
• Improved language around new and altered positions/classifications
• Recognition of National Truth and Reconciliation Day as a paid holiday
• Enhance the language in the Health & Safety article
• Full employment security for the life of the agreement
• No contracting out of bargaining unit work.

Our next meetings are scheduled for November 12 and 19.

Wear red on our upcoming bargaining dates to show your support. Show your solidarity by taking photos of you and your coworkers wearing red and sending them to photos@aupe.org; they will then be posted to AUPE’s social media.
Please contact a member of your negotiating team if you have any questions or feedback about this bargaining update.
