Aramark Miller Crossing: Negotiations continue with your new team

Bargaining update for Local 047 Chapter 048, Aramark Canada Ltd. Miller Crossing Continuing Care Centre

Jan 13, 2025

Text only block

Your newly appointed negotiating team met the employer for the first time to continue bargaining for a new collective agreement. We were able to confirm acceptance of previous proposals while also submitting unresolved issues.

Key issues we’re discussing at the bargaining table, include:

  • Increasing shift/weekend premiums and creating a flexible health spending account
  • Switching RRSP contributions to a defined benefit pension plan through the Local Authorities Pension Plan (LAPP)
  • Addressing working short issues

Unfortunately, the employer’s response to just about everything brought to the table was disheartening. They said they “prefer the status quo” on almost all of our proposal.

We, of course, won’t accept the status quo – because we all deserve better. But we can’t reach our goals without you. In order to get the deal we deserve, we need to continue working together, stand in solidarity and support the negotiating team every chance we get.

Keep in mind, we are proposing that the agreement we are currently negotiating ends in 2024 so we can immediately start negotiating the collective agreement for the following term. That means we need you to stay involved in the bargaining process.

Our next meeting with the employer is scheduled to be held March 24, 25 and 26.

If you have any questions or concerns leading up to the next round of bargaining, please reach out to a member of your negotiating team.
