Whitehorn Village: Submitting written arguments to mediator

Update for Local 048 Chapter 051, Whitehorn Village

Feb 21, 2023

Text only block

Your negotiation team and the employer were scheduled to meet for enhanced mediation on January 10, 11, 12, 2022. Unfortunately, due to a key member of the employer's committee having a significant health issue, these dates were cancelled.

Your negotiation team has made alternative arrangements to move the process forward, while respecting the privacy and significance of the health issue.

Next steps

We will be submitting our written arguments regarding the remaining outstanding matters (mostly monetary items) to the mediator by March 10. Each party will still have an opportunity to argue against the others' position.

The mediator will then write recommendations where we hope to see a positive outcome. We will bring the recommendations to the membership for a vote.

We have been consistent with our goals at the table as you are some of the lowest paid workers in the province, while management is compensated above average and enjoys bonuses on the back of your hard work.

Our proposal is to improve your wages, sick time, differentials (and other improvements) to align with the rest of the province.

We thank you immensely for your patience while we navigate this battle.

If you have any questions or feedback about this bargaining update, please contact a member of your negotiating team.
