Your negotiating team met the employer to continue bargaining on October 28. We focused on resolving outstanding non-monetary items. We are pleased to report that it was a productive session and we signed off nearly every article.

We also presented our detailed monetary proposal, including market adjustments for nine classifications, new apprenticeship compensation, that all members make a living wage, and improvements to our benefits package. Our wage demands are:

  • Year 1 – 13%
  • Year 2 – 6.5%
  • Year 3 – 6.5%
  • Cost of Living Adjustments (COLA) based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI)

As expected, our employer proposed the same wage adjustment that the Government of Alberta is forcing other employers to offer AUPE members.

  • Year 1 – 2%
  • Year 2 – 2%
  • Year 3 – 1.75%
  • Year 4 – 1.75%

We are strongly opposed to the employer’s offer. However, we are cautiously optimistic, as they have committed to reviewing our proposal in detail. Regardless, your team is prepared for any outcome and remains committed to advocating for the improved wages and benefits we deserve.

Our next bargaining meetings are not scheduled yet, though both we and the employer are open to meeting before the end of the year. We hope that the final non-monetary items will be resolved then and that we will make progress on monetary items as well.

Please reach out to a member of your negotiating team with any questions or concerns.
