Single point of contention identified
Your negotiating team is pleased to report that we have recently wrapped a productive round of bargaining with the employer. Conversations to date have been amicable and well-reasoned.
March 14 saw much progress on the Hours of Work, Scheduling, and Overtime articles and all three are quickly approaching a suitable resolution. On March 30, the employer reviewed the collective agreement proposals we have put forward and we had the opportunity to discuss them. Following this discussion, the employer has committed to reviewing the proposals further and presenting a response during our next meeting.
A notable disagreement that occurred during our conversations was regarding the Team Lead position. Though the employer had agreed that Team Leads were to be in scope at the time of certification, they are now attempting to reverse that decision. Your negotiating team remained firm on our opposing position and will filing an application for determination at the Labour Relations Board (LRB); the LRB will then hear arguments from both sides and make a decision.
Though upcoming bargaining dates are to be determined, we will notify you of any updates in the interim. As always, reach out to your negotiating team with questions, comments, and concerns.
