Negotiating team prepares to move to formal mediation
Your negotiating team would like to provide an update as to the status of mediation. The committee met for informal mediation on February 7 and 8 with the employer and mediator Michael Dyer. At this meeting, the employer tabled a comprehensive proposal. Although we are making some headway, the major monetary issues still fall short of our demands.
The AUPE Essential Services Department has started the process of negotiating an Essential Services Agreement (ESA) with the employer. This step must be finalized and filed with the Labour Board in order to move to formal mediation.
Our next mediation meetings are scheduled for March 17 and 28. We will meet with our AUPE negotiator James Mitchell prior to the scheduled dates to formulate our next response. We are still hopeful we can negotiate a settlement this time. We will provide our next update after mediation.
