Negotiating team optimistic we’ll soon see progress
As reported in our last bargaining update, informal mediation has proven effective in helping us move negotiations along. After so many years of foot-dragging by the employer, we’re pleased that they continue to participate in the informal mediation process.
Your negotiating team met with the mediator on June 21, 2022, while the employer spent the day preparing a complete proposal on the outstanding articles, which include: Hours of Work (which contains scheduling provisions); Named Holidays; Vacation; Leaves of Absence; Layoffs; Benefits; RRSP; and, wages. Once we receive their proposal, your negotiating team will regroup and, with the assistance of the mediator, prepare a response to the employer.
In the meantime, members are encouraged to Save the Date! in your calendars. Your negotiating team is hosting a "Meet and Greet" on July 13, 2022 from 2:30 - 4:30 PM to bring folks up to date on bargaining and to answer any questions you might have. Stay tuned for more details.
If you have co-workers who are not receiving these updates, please share this information with them and encourage them to visit aupe.org/updateinfo so that they will receive future bargaining updates and other important union news.
Please reach out to a member of your negotiating team if you require more information.
