Local 071/Chapter 005
All Staff
Your negotiating team met with the Employer on Oct. 26 and made progress on several items.
Our relationship with the employer is good, but we know that this will be a challenging round of negotiations thanks to the direction for post-secondary institutions set by the Government of Alberta.
We have signed off on or made no changes to the following articles:
- Article 1 – Definitions (not open)
- Article 2 – Recognition/Jurisdiction
- Article 4 – Employer Union Relations (not open)
- Article 5 – Management Rights (not open)
- Article 6 – Dues Checkoff (not open)
- Article 8 – Probationary Period
- Article 12 – Call back pay guarantee (not open)
- Article 13 – Reporting Pay (not open)
- Article 14 – Time-off for Union Business (not open)
- Article 15 – Illness Leave (not open)
- Article 15a – Proof of Illness
- Article 18 – Court Leave (not open)
- Article 20 – Grievance and Adjudication
- Article 21 – Disciplinary Action
- Article 27 – Benefits and Premiums
- Article 28 – Workers' Compensation Supplement
- Article 29 – Protection of Personal Garments
- Article 30 – New or Altered Job Classifications
- Article 31 – Acting Incumbency
- Article 32 – Discrimination and Harassment
- Article 34 – Delivery Notice
- Article 36 – Joint Consultation
We have not received a monetary proposal from the Employer, but it should be noted that this is one of the few post-secondary institutions that has not proposed a rollback to cost sharing of benefits. It will continue to pay 100 per cent.
We are expecting to receive monetary proposal from the Employer at the next bargaining session, which should take place in January, 2022.
