It’s no secret that workers across the province are struggling. The cost of living is skyrocketing and has been for a long time. Wages aren’t keeping up and every day workers are falling further and further behind.
Many workers do not make a living wage, the minimum income needed to afford a basic standard of living and cover essential expenses. While a living wage changes community by community, it is higher than the minimum wage across the province.
The average living wage in Alberta is $21.72, far above the $15 minimum wage.
The AUPE Pay & Social Equity Committee is committed to fighting for wages that pay the bills, put food on the table, and allow us all to live with dignity. We know that no worker should be forced to work multiple full-time jobs just to survive. We are fighting for Living Wage legislation in Alberta and your voice is crucial.
To better fight for all AUPE members, we want to hear from you.
