Negotiating team calls on Employer to come back to bargaining table
Over the last two weeks, we polled you to ask if you want to accept the Employer’s offer, which includes a $200 rollback to Health Spending (a 21% cut) and two-tier wages for Educational Assistants.
“NO!” —was your definitive answer!
We want the Employer to stop trying to impose this insulting offer on staff. We are telling them: “Come to the table and listen! Work with us to negotiate a fair settlement!”
We want to thank all members for your patience, support and engagement throughout the bargaining process. We have already endured so much with successive rounds of layoffs, difficult working conditions and low pay. We want our Employer to value school support staff and negotiate with us fairly.

At this critical stage in bargaining, it is imperative that you keep your contact information up to date so that you don’t miss important updates. Stay connected and have your say!
Here are some steps you can take today:
- Make sure your contact information with AUPE is up to date. Fill in this form, get in touch with your bargaining committee or call the AUPE Member Resource Centre (1-800-232-7284) to provide your personal email, phone number and mailing address.
- Read your collective agreement to understand your rights. Ask your bargaining committee or your AUPE Membership Services Officer (1-800-232-7284) if you have any questions or need assistance defending your rights at work.
- If you have health and safety concerns, you can also report them here.
- Take AUPE courses at HQ in Edmonton or online. Your time and expenses (childcare, mileage, hotel etc.) are covered. The Direct Action course is being offered in-person on March 1 and 2, 2023 and there are still spaces available.
