AUPE members to hold information picket protest in downtown Calgary
CALGARY – Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) members will hold an information picket protest in downtown Calgary tomorrow, Wed. Jan. 29, 2020.
Media are invited to attend.
“Albertans across this province have woken up to the fact that the UCP government is unfairly attacking it own citizens while giving away billions of dollars to big, profitable corporations,” says AUPE vice-president Bobby-Joe Borodey.
“The government pledged to create jobs, but all we’re seeing is more and more Albertans losing jobs. Now the government wants to add salt to the wound by slashing thousands of jobs in the public sector, including nearly 6,000 jobs of AUPE members. These workers provide vital services in the justice system, in education, in health care and in government services,” she says.
“AUPE members are standing up for our public services and all Albertans. We are Alberta’s loudest, proudest union, and the government is going to hear our united voice.”
