Albertans have been ordered to evacuate the town of Jasper and National Park because of wildfires. AUPE offers condolences and support for all affected by this evacuation and other wildfires raging across the province.

AUPE members who are affected by the wildfires are encouraged to seek assistance through their employer-specific support programs.

Many AUPE members, including those working for Alberta Health Services, will receive pay even if they are unable to work because they are evacuated. Please contact your employer’s human resources department if you have any questions.

You can also contact AUPE’s Member Resource Centre to learn about the support that may be available for you.

You can call the Resource Centre between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, at 1-800-232-7284. You can also contact the Resource Centre online

AUPE members are fighting wildfires across the province. The teams on the ground and behind the scenes are doing all they can and need our support.

We hope everyone stays safe and gets the support they need as we endure yet another difficult wildfire season.
