Our employer cancelled the negotiations that were scheduled for Sept. 18 and 19, based on the fact that it is agreed that the next steps in bargaining are formal mediation and the requirement for an Essential Services Agreement (ESA) to be in place.
In the meantime your Government Services Bargaining Committee (GSBC) will be using those two days to prepare for the next steps in bargaining, when we will be discussing monetary issues and getting ready for formal mediation. We will provide a more in-depth bargaining update after those meetings.
Work will also continue with the employer to select a mediator to commence formal mediation once an ESA is secured.
