GSBC bargaining update: Job security extended again in face of continuing pandemic
Negotiations on new collective agreement also delayed to Oct. 15
As Alberta continues to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, AUPE and the Government of Alberta (GOA) have once again agreed to extend job protection for permanent employees.
A new Memorandum of Agreement was signed today (Wed., Aug. 12) that extends job-security provisions until Oct. 15. The agreement also delays bargaining for a new collective agreement to the same date.
The new memorandum is similar to the agreements signed at the end of March and in June that delayed bargaining and extended job security.
As Albertans continue to face both a health-crisis and an economic collapse, it’s important that AUPE members be able to focus on providing the vital services that people need now more than ever.
