Your negotiating team would like to thank members for completing the bargaining survey and those who helped spread the word to make sure we reached as many members as possible.
Your responses will guide the work of your negotiating team when we develop our proposals for an improved collective agreement.
What the survey results showed us:
- 78% of members say their wages don't cover the cost of living
- 67% say can’t afford basic needs like food and housing
- 74% say staffing levels, scheduling and workload aren’t appropriate
Members were also concerned that the RRSP benefits at Edgemont are lower than at other seniors care employers, health and safety issues as well as workplace culture. You can read the full summary here or at the bottom of this update.
There’s a lot of work ahead of us to improve our lives at work and at home. We need to work together to demand better wages, benefits and manageable workloads in order to improve our collective agreement in the upcoming round of bargaining.
If you have any questions about this bargaining update or would like to get more involved in supporting our efforts, contact a member of our negotiating team.
