Covenant won’t play fair; time for mediation

Bargaining Update for members in Local 040, Covenant Health General Support Services

Your Covenant Health General Support Services team is applying for voluntary mediation alongside your employer.

We reached a point in bargaining where we simply could not move forward. There are two main reasons for this: job security and supplemental benefits.

Your negotiating team proposed improvements to benefits that are the same as our fellow workers in Alberta Health Services GSS received in their new agreement. We believe earning the same benefits as our fellow workers is only fair; equal benefits for work of equal value.

However, Covent Health refused our common sense proposal. They refused to provide you with equal benefits.

Your team also proposed job security just as our fellow AUPE members working for Alberta Heath Services. Once again, Covenant Health declined to treat us equally.

Covenant Health GSS workers deserve the same benefits and respect as everyone else working in publicly funded healthcare.

Your negotiating team is taking a strong stand and refusing to accept Covenant Health’s disrespectful proposals. We deserve increased benefits and job security. That is why we hope a mediator’s assistance will help us win a fair agreement.

We will update you after our next bargaining meetings. Please contact a member of your negotiating team if you have any questions.
