Your negotiating team met with the employer on October 4th, 5th, and 24th, where we started the informal mediation process. The mediator was helpful, and we were able to agree on several articles.
However, your employer did not seem prepared for mediation. We spent most of the meeting in our own breakout room while the employer was reviewing agreed to articles from previous bargaining sessions submitted to them in July for sign-off.
The employer has not improved their wage or shift differential offer at this time.
This raises the question: is the employer intentionally delaying our progress? Are they trying to stall for as much time as possible to avoid reaching a new agreement and paying you what you deserve?
Regardless, our goal in bargaining remains the same: to ensure all members are paid the median wage for Healthcare Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses in the province.
Your negotiating team has stood up for you throughout bargaining, especially with how management is now treating you at the worksite. We will continue standing up for all members at Whitehorn Village Retirement and Swan Evergreen.
We will now apply for enhanced mediation to hopefully make further progress towards a fair collective agreement. If we do not reach a tentative agreement, the mediator will make recommendations to both your team and the employer.
Your team believes we are in a good position with our monetary offer and hope for a good outcome at enhanced mediation. We have scheduled dates for enhanced mediation in early January 2023.
Please contact your negotiating team if you have any questions.
