Over the two days, the employer continued to propose contract language that would favour their bottom-line over the health and quality-of-life of you and the seniors we support.
Nevertheless, we did sign off on nine articles. Up to this point, the employer wouldn’t even agree to our proposed language for the Purpose and Preamble (in line with the majority of AUPE agreements across the province).
You shouldn’t have to push this hard for small movements at the table, but our collective voice is our greatest strength, and we’ll need to keep using it moving forward as the employer plans to table rollbacks across all five of their unionized seniors care facilities in Edmonton, Red Deer and Calgary.
None of us at any of the Revera sites will accept these regressions as a standard for our working conditions, and we will make that clear to the employer at our next bargaining meetings on March 27 and 28.
If you have any questions, please contact us – we’re here to keep you informed.
