Instead of responding to that, the employer wanted to rewrite the entire collective agreement, disregarding both current and proposed language that reflects our value in the health care system and allows us to provide quality care to Albertans.
Moving forward, we hope Optima Living is prepared to respect the work we do. At the very least, you deserve compensation in line with AHS contracts and an employer who is both open about their finances and willing to respect our bargaining agency.
On April 5, we continue with mediation. Your bargaining team remains committed to our priorities. Optima Living’s behaviours during bargaining have not discouraged us; they have only highlighted just how important it is we secure protections in a collective agreement.
Thanks to your perseverance, we are one step closer to achieving that goal.
Our union is also continuing to negotiate an Essential Services Agreement (ESA).
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact a member of our bargaining team. Your input is valued.
