Essential services agreement signed; informal mediation commences
Your Government Services Bargaining Committee (GSBC) approved the Essential Services Agreement (ESA) negotiated with the Government of Alberta (GOA), and it has been signed by AUPE President Guy Smith.
The ESA was delivered to the Alberta Labour Relations Board (ALRB) earlier today.
Your GSBC met with the Employer and the independent mediator on July 21 and 22, with additional dates scheduled for August 13, 16 and 20th.
Please note that, in accordance with the ESA, in the event of a labour dispute, it is the Union’s responsibility to schedule Designated Essential Workers (DESW). These numbers are detailed in the ESA by position, Department, and region.
In the event you may be required to work as a DESW, AUPE needs to have your accurate contact information to schedule your shifts. If you would like to know more about how these processes work together, please refer to this recent Bargaining Update.
