The Alberta Labour Relations Board has ordered Emcon to show us their financial reports.
Previously, Emcon said they could only afford a 0.92% wage increase for all our hardworking coworkers and had no room for other monetary improvements. Your negotiating teams and AUPE resource staff asked Emcon to share their finances so we could all see what they can and cannot afford.
When Emcon refused to disclose this information, we filed a complaint with the Alberta Labour Relations Board. The board made its decision in our favour after hearings on March 24 and 25.
Now that Emcon has been ordered to disclose their financials, we will schedule our next bargaining meetings soon so we can get back to work and secure a new collective agreement.
We hope this financial information can shed light on the employer’s true capacity to support us. The cost of living isn’t getting any lower, and we deserve more than an insulting 0.92% wage increase.
