After COVID-19 delayed bargaining, your negotiating team and the employer finally resumed negotiations last week (May 12 & 13) and reviewed each other’s ingoing proposals (tabled October 2020). A robust and meaningful conversation about non-monetary items followed, resulting in the teams signing off the following articles:

- 18 TemporaryAssignments
- 19 Employee-Management Advisory Committee
- 20 Resignation and Termination
- 21 Transportation
- 32 Layoff and Recall
- 33 Discipline and Dismissal
- 35 Copies of the Collective Agreement
- 36 Grievance Procedure
- 38 Dress Code
- 41 Handling Cash Receipts and Disbursements
- 42 Legal Indemnification
Some of these articles received minor housekeeping changes; others will retain the current language. Hours of Work, Overtime, and Casual Shifts remain outstanding. We plan to discuss these protections when we meet again in June.
While your AUPE negotiating team provided a complete ingoing package of non-monetary and monetary items, including a modest salary increase and health benefit improvements, AgeCare has yet to table their monetary items. We expected their delay, but we’re still frustrated. We’ve made it clear to AgeCare we expect to see their monetary proposals when we meet on June 29 & 30.
