Bargaining Continues
Your negotiating team met with the employer on March 10 to continue collective bargaining.
The employer responded to our proposals, which we tabled at our last meeting on February 4. They also tabled their monetary proposals, which include no increases to wages or other monetary items.
For now, your negotiating team is focusing on non-monetary issues. We were able to sign off on the following items:
- Article 4 Union Dues Check Off: We added “start date” and “gross earnings” to the monthly dues remittance. Including more information in your dues check off helps your AUPE resource staff help you and your co-workers.
- Article 15 Reporting for Work: We increased the minimum number of hours you will be paid if you are called in to work and sent home early from 2 hours to 3 hours, in line with Employment Standards.
- Article 21 Maternity – Parental – Adoption: We’ve updated this article in line with Employment Standards.
We also agreed to making your collective agreement a gender-neutral document, to show inclusion for all employees.
