AUPE Virtual Annual General Meetings (AGMs) are coming — Be prepared!
The pandemic has changed so much about our day-to-day lives, and union Annual General Meetings (AGMs) are no exception. As you know, AUPE was even forced to cancel Convention 2020.
But now, 2021 has started and it’s an election year for AUPE’s Locals, Chapters, Area Councils and Executive. The Provincial Executive is committed to upholding our strong democratic obligations, and so AUPE has begun work on an online Virtual AGM system to make sure we are all able to hold our important annual general meetings and elections this year.
- To ensure you can participate in the upcoming online AGMs and elections, you MUST create a MyAUPE account on www.aupe.org. Click here to create your MyAUPE account if you have not done so already. By signing up, you will be sure to receive updates about your Local and Chapter meetings.
- You will need your 6-digit AUPE Member ID to create a MyAUPE account. If you do not know your Member ID, please call AUPE’s Member Resource Centre at 1-800-232-7284, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
We will share more information about the Virtual AGM system in the coming weeks. Training will be provided to make sure all our meetings run smoothly.
These meetings will be delayed by a couple of months because of the complexity of making sure they run as smoothly and efficiently as possible. We expect Chapter AGMs to be completed by the end of June and Local AGMs to run throughout the summer.
We know this is different than what we’re all used to. But we are doing everything we can to make sure we stick to our union’s democratic processes, one of the most important parts of being an AUPE member.
We know you probably have lots of questions.
