International Women’s Day is a rallying cry for AUPE members and all union activists.
Every year—as it has for over a century—International Women’s Day reminds us that freedom for women is a sign of freedom for all.
The women of AUPE have led from the front lines throughout our history. They have fought and won important battles not just for women’s rights, but the entire working class.
In fact, the struggle for women’s rights is inseparable from the struggle for worker’s rights. Women’s rights are fought for on the shop floor, on picket lines, and with marches in the streets.
International Women’s Day is not just a celebration. It does not just belong on a greeting card. It is a day to organize and act on our commitment to build a better world.
A world with equal pay for equal work. A world that recognizes the unpaid work of the stay-at-home mom. A world where all women are treated like women.
A world where everyone works together, in solidarity, for the betterment of all.
