Your negotiating team met with AUArts on November 12 and 19. We signed off on most of our non-monetary articles, with no rollbacks to the existing language.
The employer came prepared with concrete language for these meetings, instead of only concepts as they had in previous meetings. The employer’s preparedness allowed us to have, in general, productive discussions.
AUArts relies heavily on casual employees who are not entitled to the same benefits and protections as the rest of us. We propose that casual staff move to part-time or temporary roles so that they can receive these benefits.
We will exchange our monetary proposals, including wage increases, when we meet with the employer in the new year.
Your team is watching other bargaining tables closely. AUPE members are facing the same challenges across the province, no matter who they work for, and we are all united in the same struggle for better wages and benefits.
Next meetings
Our next meetings are scheduled for January 20 and 21.
Wear red on these dates to show your support. You can also send photos of you and your coworkers wearing red to photos@aupe.org to be posted on AUPE’s social media.
Please contact a member of your negotiating team if you have any questions or feedback about this bargaining update.
