Every year, the Young Activists Committee (YAC) presents the Recognition of Activism Leadership (RALY) award to a young AUPE member to honour their contributions and celebrate them as the future of our movement. The award celebrates a young member whose activism goes above and beyond.
Young AUPE workers are supporting fellow members, fighting for improved working conditions, and growing our power across the province. These young workers are leading a resurgence of union activism and AUPE members are proud to support them and help them build that momentum. Young leaders are the future of our union and our movement, continuing the legacy of all workers that came before them.
That is why the YAC created the RALY Award – to show young members that we see their significant effort and appreciate the contributions they make to ensure young activists' participation within AUPE and within our movement.
This year’s RALY award recipient is Hazel Osegueda, Local 046
The AUPE Young Activists Committee is proud to announce that Hazel Osegueda is the recipient of this year’s RALY award. Hazel has been a great asset to the union for young activists. Since being elected to the Local 046 Young Activists Committee, Hazel has been engaging and organizing the young members of Local 046. Whether Hazel is encouraging her fellow members to take courses, join in in meetings, or let their name stand as a delegate nominee for Convention, she has been successful in getting new members involved in union activity. Hazel's tireless dedication and innovative approach have not only made a significant impact on our union environment but has also inspired a new generation of young activists to take up the mantle of union involvement. Her leadership and determination serve as a beacon of hope and motivation for our local to strive towards a diverse future where everyone feels comfortable participating.
Congratulations Hazel!
