Your negotiating team met on April 2 to prepare for our next bargaining meetings with AHS.
Our next meetings are Tuesday, April 22 and Wednesday, April 23, where we will present our evidence for improved benefits and significant raises.
We need all hands on deck to support us during these two days of bargaining! Your team worked hard on our proposals, but we need your support and solidarity to help show AHS we are all serious about bargaining.
General Support Services workers are essential. Environmental service workers keep our facilities clean and prevent germs from spreading. Food service workers provide nutritious meals for patients who are struggling in hospital beds.
We are the maintenance workers, power engineers, and information technology specialists who keep the lights on – as well as countless more classifications that make our health care system move.
Hospitals would literally shut down without us. We deserve significant raises and a contract that reflects the value of what we do.
We also met with AHS on April 3 to discuss our Essential Services Agreement, or ESA, which we will need if bargaining leads to mediation or a strike.
Negotiations for our ESA will continue on April 22. We will share another update about our ESA when we make more progress.
Wear red and share this update
Wear red on April 22 and 23 to support us in bargaining.
This is not just about your negotiating team, it’s about you! We must support each other and show our strength. AHS won’t just give us the raises and benefits we deserve – but they might if we keep the pressure on them.
Take selfies and group pictures of you and your coworkers wearing red, then email those pictures to photos@aupe.org. We will use those pictures on social media to spread your solidarity and raise awareness of what we’re fighting for.
Share this update with your coworkers. Even better, make sure you and your coworkers create a MyAUPE account.
Members must have a MyAUPE account to participate in a future strike vote and collect strike pay.
We need leaders – register for Strike Captain Training
AUPE members must be prepared for the possibility of a strike or lockout.
Register today for an upcoming Strike Captain Course. This in-person course is just 1 day, and you will receive time off work to take it.
Learn more about being a Strike Captain and register for a course near you.
Please contact a member of your negotiating team if you have any questions.
