Negotiating team tables non-monetary proposal
Your negotiating team met with the employer on January 17 to begin bargaining and are satisfied with how the process began. The tone of the session was friendly and positive, and we are hopeful that it will stay this way.
Your team made the decision to only table a non-monetary proposal to start. This will allow us to focus on important language that must be included in your collective agreement, including probationary periods, grievance procedures, and Union Stewards. We will table our monetary proposals once the non-monetary proposals have all been discussed and either agreed upon or have reached impasse (the parties are deadlocked in their positions and agree to re-visit them later in the process).
Negotiations will resume on January 24 and 25. Your negotiating team is committed to keeping you informed and engaged as we work through what could be a lengthy process in achieving your first collective agreement.
