The bargaining committee met with the employer over two days on April 6 and 7, 2021 to exchange proposals. They were pleasantly shocked to hear the Employer included no wage rollbacks. However, they did not include any other wage details nor respond to our proposed modest salary increases.
Even so, based on their spokesperson’s language, the bargaining committee is cautiously optimistic there could be some salary increases. But they would be very minor, if they happen at all.
We also discussed many modest improvements including tightening how extra shifts are offered, minimizing master rotation changes, vacation carry over, improvements to shift premiums and differentials, improvements to bereavement leave, and the utilization of sick time for appointments. The employer suggested a four-year term while we suggested three.
Those items are still outstanding and we are expecting a response to all of these proposals by the next time we meet on April 19 & 20, 2021.
Your input was vital.
We gathered all of the proposed changes though interaction with our local members, consultation with our Membership Services Officer (MSO) and through a survey of the full membership to provide direction for this round of bargaining. We thank you all for your input and solidarity.
We invite members to share this bargaining update with their fellow employees. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions, concerns or feedback.
