There has never been a more important time to recognize outstanding contributions to workplace health and safety.

Nominations for the 2022 Rolyn Sumlak Award are now open. Download and complete this form to nominate an AUPE member for this prestigious award.

The deadline for submitting nomination forms is March 10.

AUPE Local 012 commissioned the Rolyn Sumlak Award in 1990. Rolyn was an AUPE member who was tragically killed on the job while working for the government of Alberta.

Each year, this prestigious award is given to one or more AUPE members in recognition of their dedication to occupational health and safety, as well as to honour Rolyn and all workers who are injured or killed at work.

“Occupational health and safety is serious business, even moreso now as the COVID-19 pandemic envelops our communities. AUPE members know the importance of protecting each other, and the recipients of the Rolyn Sumlak award exemplify what it means to focus on safety at the workplace.” —AUPE Vice-President Bonnie Gostola, Chair of the union’s OH&S Committee.

The successful nominee(s) will receive the award at AUPE’s annual Day of Mourning ceremony in April.
