Bargaining survey can be obtained from the negotiations team on May 16
Ever since we organized and unionized your negotiations team has been gearing up to bargain your first collective agreement. Bargaining is set to begin, and we need to hear from you.
For our first collective agreement to reflect the will of the membership we need to know what your priorities are. It is vitally important you have a voice and fill out the bargaining survey. The survey will be distributed Monday, May 16 and should be completed by May 27.
It is important that you do not read or complete the survey during work hours.
We will keep all responses to the survey confidential. Together we can push for the protections we deserve, but your negotiating team needs your frontline expertise to help steer the direction of bargaining with the employer.
The Employees at the two Origin sites in Calgary are among the lowest paid healthcare and general services workers in Alberta, this is unacceptable. We will be looking to negotiate wages and other monetary items that recognizes the important work you do, especially as we come out of a worldwide pandemic. You were on the frontlines, working throughout the pandemic, while being paid far below the average compensation in Alberta.
Bargaining between your brothers and sisters at Whitehorn Village has gone smoothly so far although we expect things to be more contentious when we discuss the monetary proposal.
We will be meeting with the Employer on June 6 for a Meet and Greet and seeking bargaining dates in July to start the process of improving the workplace.
