Education support workers with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) are on strike. Their movement is growing, with 900 more CUPE members set to join more than 4,000 already walking picket lines.
You might think that’s a lot of people on strike, especially since those numbers are just in Alberta, but a picket line can never be too long.
How can we help?
Show up on CUPE picket lines on your time off. For the latest news and locations of picket line, go to https://alberta.cupe.ca/. It is a real boost for morale when strikers get support from members of the community.
Send a letter to the Alberta government telling it to deal fairly with these important but undervalued workers.
It’s about sending a message
We must send a strong message to the Alberta government. They need to know that we are angry and prepared to go on strike for what we deserve.
These CUPE members are facing the same struggles as we are. Whether you’re a member of CUPE, AUPE, another union, or no union at all, everyone deserves better wages and working conditions.

Support these workers now
We’re all busy. We have jobs, some of us multiple jobs, we have families, we have commitments. But if we support these education-support workers now, they will support us when it’s OUR TIME to STRIKE!
It’s time for AUPE members to get ready to strike, and there is no better practice than supporting our friends and neighbours who are already walking the picket lines.
