Bargaining breaks down
Your negotiations team met with the employer on Aug. 20 and 21 to continue bargaining. This is the first time we were able to meet since March.
While we’ve come to an agreement on the majority of the articles for our first collective agreement, ten crucial items remain outstanding:
- Hours of Work
- Shift Premiums
- Annual Vacation
- Sick Leave
- Leaves of Absence
- Uniforms
- Benefits
- No Contracting Out
- RRSP
- Salary Schedule
All of these protections impact our wellbeing at work and outside of it, and we won’t settle on language that is less than you and our coworkers deserve.
On the second day of bargaining we presented a fair and complete tentative agreement to Revera that factors in Alberta’s current economic climate and includes protections for staff in line with other private-sector retirement living and Assisted Living facilities in the province.
Revera had the opportunity to settle our agreement right then; they did not take it.
What's Next?
Our AUPE representative will be requesting future bargaining dates from Revera.
We’re also planning a bargaining update meeting to talk more about the issues that matter most to you in our collective agreement. Please continue to check aupe.org for updates.
Thank you for your patience. We know this is frustrating news, but by continuing to support each other and getting involved in our union we can plan for our next steps and come back to the bargaining table stronger than before. You and your coworkers deserve this.
