Last Friday (August 27) your negotiating team met to discuss bargaining and the problem of CapitalCare’s non-responsiveness. Since May, your team has been asking the employer to provide us with new bargaining dates, so we can close this round of negotiations with the fair collective agreement you deserve.
CapitalCare however, is not responding to us. They refuse to deliver dates, keeping you headlocked in an unfair holding pattern. While you’ve continued to come to work, risking illness and burnout, the employer has not done their job. To get them to do their job and return to the bargaining table, AUPE filed a complaint against CapitalCare on May 31. While we wait for the Labour Board to process this complaint, we will continue to explore all avenues for holding the employer accountable.
Not only does CapitalCare have a legal obligation to bargain with you, but they also have a moral obligation. You’re on the frontlines of a crisis; you deserve protections. Your negotiations team is still here, fighting for you to get those protections. But CapitalCare is missing in action – where could they possibly be?
